The Role of Government Employees In Lok Sabha Elections

The Role of Government Employees In Lok Sabha Elections
We don’t have to be the ones to tell you what an important role Government employees play on the day of polling.
One of the reasons for this importance is the practice of selecting only the state and Central Government employees for election duties, especially in the case of the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections that are going to be held in multiple phases. One can say that it is impossible to hold elections without the assistance of state and Central Government employees. So crucial is their contribution.
They are involved in election duties for months, either directly or indirectly. The crowning moment of these efforts are during the polling day when thousands of government employees are appointed at all the polling booths, on an average of at least 3 per booth.

It might look like an easy task to handle in metropolitan cities and smaller towns. It is not easy to carry out these tasks in remote villages or mountainous polling booths that are almost isolated from the rest of the civilisation.  More dangerous are the constituencies and areas that have been deemed sensitive and hypersensitive. In such areas, polling is held under tight security. From morning until evening, these officers have to sit at the polling stations with a heavy blanket of security. At the end of the polling, the voting machines are taken away under high security, but the officials who had manned the booth are left to fend for themselves and find their way back home. The ordeals they face are nightmarish.
According to the Government Order, if an employee deployed for poll duties fails to turn up on the polling day, then severe action would be taken against him/her.
In the past, a number of requests have been made to the Government to increase the honorarium paid to the employees on poll duties. Finally, it looks as if the Election Commission has heard the requests. According to information available, the Presiding Officer will be paid Rs. 1600, and the Polling Officer shall get an honorarium of Rs. 1150. The money shall be deposited directly in their bank accounts.

Why you shouldn't check your partner’s phone

Why you shouldn't check your partner’s phone

Relationships are based on trust and if you have been tempted to snoop on your partner for whatever reason, it indicates that you don't trust him completely.

If you have a reason to doubt your partner, then there's something seriously wrong and needs to be resolved at the earliest.

Why should you avoid checking your partner's phone?
It's a breach of trust: Instead of making things worse by snooping on your partner and secretly going through his phone, it's best to eliminate all doubts by talking to him about your concerns.

A niggling doubt will only give rise to more suspicions: If you choose to ignore your doubts, they will eat you up from the inside and will influence every decision you make, which will be detrimental to your relationship in the long run.

What you see is not always true: Texts and emoticons can be interpreted in different ways. Sometimes, being quick to assume things without checking the facts can destroy a good relationship.

If you feel you have to keep an eye on him, you are
Dealing with major issues: Trust is the foundation of any relationship, and if you don't have that, it's a sign that there is something seriously wrong. While no one is asking you to blindly believe whatever is being told to you, if there is even the slightest room for doubt, you should be asking yourself why. Also, think seriously about whether you should continue with the relationship or not.

10 Delightful Tips to Make You Happy:

Are you feeling down most of the time? Are you bombarded by all the bad news in the papers? Is your mind filled with negative thoughts? Here are 10 positive tips to cheer you up:
1. Look after your health: When you are in good health you are full of energy and you will attract positive thoughts. Exercise is the right thing to do especially when you feel bad about yourself. I do. When I am feeling out of place I go for a good jog. At the end of a jog, I sweat it out and I feel good inside out. Remember to get enough sleep as well.
2. When your negative thoughts flash through your mind: Quickly replace the negative ideas with positive ones. Do not allow the negative feelings to sink into your mind. It zaps your energy.
3. Happy company: Hang around with happy people. It's contagious. Positive thinking people will influence your mindset and you will eventually behave just like them.
4. A list of the things that make you happy: Write down a list of those happy occasions. When your energy is low on any day take a look at the list to get rid of those sad feelings.
5. Live in the present: The past is dead and gone and the future is not here yet. Enjoy the daily life and find happiness in it. Look for the tiny little happiness every now and then. For all you know the big celebration may never come. No more wishful thinking like I'll be happy when.....
6. Be happy with what you have: Don't try and keep up with the Joneses. Enjoy life with what you have while you pursue to get the things you want in life. Count your blessings instead of your troubles.
7. Something to look forward to: Indulge in activities that you enjoy doing on a regular basis. For instance I love blogging. I post an article every day. I look at my Traffic Rank every few days. I receive encouraging comments every now and then. These little things cheer me up.
8. Help Others: Even a small gesture of complementing another person will put a sparkle in the eyes and it lifts your mood as well. It vitalizes your positive energy when you know you are capable of helping others.
9. Be yourself: Accept yourself as what you are. You are one unique individual with your strengths and weaknesses. Be yourself and carry on living.
10. Don't worry, be happy: There goes the title of the song. Most of the time the things that you worry about never happen. So why think about it. Instead use the time to do some creative thinking on how to be happier in life.

7 Things never to discuss with colleagues

In all probability, you count many of your colleagues as your friends and spend more time with them than you do with you loved ones.

But where should a person draw the line and at what point should they stop being pals with their co-workers and start a professional relation with them.

Indian-origin workplace law expert Joydeep Hor said that boundaries between work and private life are becoming blurred, which in turn is creating problems for workers both professionally and legally.

He has listed seven things that we should avoid talking or discussing about with our co-workers.

Firstly, Hor said that sex life is a topic that people should avoid talking with their colleagues, as it can get them in legal trouble; he asserted that the definition of sexual harassment can be quite broad, News.com.au reported.

Secondly, people need to be aware of their obligation not to malign certain groups in the workplace, as the expression of personally held opinions could be dangerous.

Thirdly, gossiping about others in a work place is a no-no, as it suggests that the person may not be productive in the workplace. And gossiping about people in their private life is also risky.

Fourthly, a worker should never tell their superior that that they wrote themselves off on the weekend, as it represents a lapse in judgement and could makes them query if the person could have the same lapse in judgement in their work.

Fifthly, if a colleague or a customer is discourteous to the person, they should be careful about how they respond, especially if they are angry or frustrated, as co-workers might be turned off if they are constantly venting about others.

Sixthly, a person should never reveal to a co-worker about the big mistakes that they have committed in their life, as they can disclose it to others.

Seventhly, major life events that have happened in a person's life can pose problems if they share them in the wrong way.
